Who is Brimstone in VALORANT?

Brimstone is the roster's seasoned commander – a US veteran who reads the battlefield with military precision. As a Controller he supplies his team with smoke from orbit, blocks paths with fire and, in an emergency, calls a laser airstrike down from the sky.

Brimstone has been part of VALORANT from the start and remains the most beginner-friendly Controller to this day. His kit revolves around vision control and firepower: he places precise smoke clouds via a tactical map, throws a carpet of flames that blocks paths and hurts enemies, gives his team speed and firepower with a Stim Beacon, and calls in an orbital laser strike with his Ultimate. Brimstone's role: the reliable Controller

In VALORANT there are four roles: Duelist, Initiator, Controller and Sentinel. Brimstone is a Controller – the role whose job is controlling space. Controllers take away the enemy's vision, split the map with smoke and create safe paths for their team to attack or defend.

Brimstone's special contribution is his precision and reliability. He places his smoke clouds pinpoint via a tactical map – without tricky aim mechanics – so they land almost every time. On top of that comes real firepower: his molly blocks paths and drives off enemies, his Stim Beacon makes the team faster and deadlier up close, and his airstrike turns a planted Spike into a kill zone. Stim Beacon C – the speed boost

Stim Beacon is Brimstone's support ability. You instantly throw a beacon to the ground; on impact it creates a field that grants you and your teammates inside it a combat stim (faster fire rate) and a speed boost. Use it before an execute or a duel to make your team faster and deadlier at the decisive moment – an often underrated but very strong effect.

Incendiary Q – the molly

Incendiary is Brimstone's flamethrower. You fire an incendiary grenade that explodes as soon as it comes to rest on the ground, leaving a temporary carpet of flames that damages enemies in the area. Use the molly to clear an angle, stop a push or prevent the Spike defuse in a post-plant situation – an enemy standing in fire has to move.

Sky Smoke E – the smokes

Sky Smoke is Brimstone's signature ability and the heart of his Controller role. You open a tactical map and set the positions where the smoke clouds should land; with the alternate fire mode you confirm and fire long-lasting smoke clouds that block vision in the chosen area. Because you place them precisely on the map, they land almost every time – ideal to seal off several entrances at once for an execute.

Orbital Strike X – the orbital laser

Orbital Strike is Brimstone's Ultimate and one of the most destructive effects in the game: you open a tactical map and call in a temporary laser airstrike at the target location that deals high damage over time to all players there. Use it to defend a planted Spike (enemies can't defuse inside the laser), force enemies out of a fixed position or make a choke lethal. Placed right, Orbital Strike decides entire rounds.

Brimstone is easy to learn and demanding on timing. These tips take you from "I smoke somewhere" to "I control the entire execute".

For beginners: learn your smokes

Brimstone's smokes are the best entry into Controller play because you simply place them on the map. Learn the standard smokes for each map for the attack on both bomb sites. Use the molly to block paths on defense, and throw the Stim Beacon before your team storms a site. That way you provide real value right away.

For advanced players: combine smokes & molly

Brimstone's strength lies in the coordinated execute. Set your three smokes so they seal off the most dangerous angles at once, and storm in with the Stim Beacon. In the post-plant situation you combine molly and airstrike to defend the Spike – enemies can defuse neither in the fire nor in the laser. Learn fixed molly line-ups onto the standard defuse positions.

A solo Controller on both sides

Brimstone can supply a map with vision on his own – on attack he opens the way onto the site with smokes, on defense he delays pushes with molly and smoke. His Ultimate is one of the strongest post-plant and retake weapons in the game on both sides. It's exactly this reliability that makes him timeless.

Brimstone is especially strong on smaller, tighter maps, where his compact smokes and the airstrike can control entire sites. On very spacious maps with long distances his smokes sometimes lack the range. The percentages are rough guides, not an exact data set.
