In Valorant every agent belongs to one of four roles, and understanding them helps you make better team decisions. Duelists like Jett or Reyna are the fraggers: they actively seek duels and use speed and aggression to create space for their team. Initiators like Sova or Breach gather information and disrupt the defence so their team can enter a site safely. Controllers like Omen, Brimstone or Astra block sightlines with smoke and shape the map the way their team needs it. Sentinels like Killjoy, Cypher or Sage lock down flanks and sites and hold the line with traps and healing.
As a beginner you do not need to master every agent. Pick one favourite per role, learn its abilities properly and only switch once you use its strengths confidently. That way you build a versatile pool step by step instead of spreading yourself too thin – and you quickly find out which playstyle really suits you.
