Who is Miks in VALORANT?

Miks is the conductor of the roster – a passionate Croatian who channels pure sound energy and tunes his team to the perfect rhythm with his sonic powers. As a Controller he supplies it with smoke, pace and firepower and sets the beat on the battlefield.

Miks is one of the newest agents and brings a very team-oriented Controller identity. His kit revolves around vision control and support: through a map targeting interface he places precise smoke clouds, a switchable sonic device stuns enemies or heals allies, a team stim makes him and a teammate faster and deadlier, and his Ultimate unleashes a sonic beam that knocks enemies back and disables them. That makes him a Controller who combines vision and support.

For you as a player this means a supportive, tactful playstyle. As Miks you win rounds by giving your team vision and driving its rhythm: smoke for the execute, stim for the push, stun or heal at the decisive moment. A good Miks is the engine that makes his team act as one unit.

In this guide you get the complete overview: we explain Miks' role as a Controller, every ability in detail, tips for beginners and advanced players and his best maps. How good your own Miks performance really is gets analyzed by the Valorant-Spind coach analysis locally on your PC.

Role

Miks' role: the supportive Controller

In VALORANT there are four roles: Duelist, Initiator, Controller and Sentinel. Miks is a Controller – the role whose task is controlling space. Controllers take the enemy's vision, divide the map with smoke and create safe paths for their team to attack or defend.

Miks' special contribution is the combination of vision and support. Alongside precise smokes placed via the map, he brings real support: his team stim makes him and a teammate faster and deadlier in a fight, his sonic device can stun enemies or heal allies, and his Ultimate drives defenders out of their positions. That makes him ideal for teams that want to push coordinated as one unit.

As Miks you carry the responsibility to give your team vision and rhythm. Your smokes and buffs are strong, but they need to be timed: a stim without a follow-up push or a smoke at the wrong time is wasted. The difference between a good and an average Miks lies in the timing and the coordination with the team.

In short: Miks is the team conductor among Controllers. Map smokes, a team stim, a switchable stun/heal device and a sonic Ultimate make him the supportive engine of every attack.

Whether your control is working you can see in the Valorant-Spind app: from round outcomes and your best agent per map you can tell whether your Miks really opens up space for the team.

M-pulse C – the stun/heal device

M-pulse is Miks' versatile sonic device. Before throwing, you switch in the alternate fire mode between “stun” and “heal”; then you throw the device. On landing it emits sound waves that either stun or heal players. That way you adapt flexibly: stun approaching enemies in a choke or restore your teammates' strength after a fight. A tool for attack and support in one.

Harmonize Q – the team stim

Harmonize is Miks' support ability. You aim at an ally and fire to grant yourself and your teammate a combat stim and a speed boost – the effect refreshes with every kill. In the alternate fire mode you buff only yourself. Use Harmonize before an execute or a duel to go into the fight together with a teammate, faster and deadlier – extremely strong in coordinated pushes.

Waveform E – the smokes

Waveform is Miks' signature ability and his vision cover. You open a map targeting interface, set the target locations and, in the alternate fire mode, make smoke appear at the chosen positions. Because you place the smokes precisely via the map, they land reliably – ideal for sealing several entrances at once for an execute or closing a sightline on defense.

Bassquake X – the sonic Ultimate

Bassquake is Miks' Ultimate. You build up a sonic beam and release it forward; enemies hit are knocked back, deafened and slowed. Use the Ultimate to break open a site, drive defenders out of their fixed positions or clear a choke at the decisive moment – a knocked-back, deafened and slowed enemy can barely defend itself while your team storms in.

Guide

Playing Miks right: tips for every level

Miks is accessible and demanding on timing. These tips take you from “I smoke somewhere” to “I conduct the entire execute”.

For beginners: learn smokes and stim

The easiest value with Miks comes from smokes and the team stim. Learn the standard smokes with Waveform for the attack on both bomb sites for each map. Use Harmonize before your team pushes to go in faster and deadlier with a teammate. And set M-pulse to stun (against enemies) or heal (for the team) depending on the situation.

For advanced players: drive the rhythm

Miks' true strength lies in making his team act as one unit. Combine smokes for the safe path, Harmonize for the speed and M-pulse (stun) for the choke – and storm in coordinated. Because the stim refreshes with every kill, you can carry entire attacks at high pace. Save your Bassquake for the decisive site take to drive the defenders out of their positions.

Team engine on both sides

Miks can supply a map with vision and at the same time give his team real support. On attack he opens the way with smokes and pushes with stim, on defense he stuns and slows pushes with M-pulse and Ultimate. It's exactly this combination of control and support that makes him a special Controller.

Mental tip: As Miks you think like a conductor – for the whole team. Your smokes and buffs win rounds, not solo plays. The Valorant-Spind App analysis shows you via round outcomes whether your control is working.

FAQ

The best team combinations for Miks

Miks is a controller who combines sight control with support – a smoke specialist who at the same time heals and speeds up his team. The precise smokes via Waveform form the foundation for coordinated executes, which is why Miks fits into almost any composition. Aggressive duelists like Jett or Reyna use the smokes as cover to peek unpredictably into the site, while Miks' Harmonize stim gives them a fire-rate and tempo advantage.

Especially strong is Miks' M-pulse, which is switchable between stun and heal: in the stun function it prepares the entry, in the heal function it keeps the team in the fight longer. This flexibility makes Miks a valuable support controller alongside any team. His ultimate unfolds a powerful sound control over a whole area. Which partners suit Miks best you'll find in the Duo & Trio Combos.

Countering Miks: how to play against them

Miks' strength is his smokes and his support, so disrupt both. Against his Waveform smokes, the same applies as with all controllers: don't shoot in blindly but wait on the edges from which the enemies emerge. Watch for his M-pulse – in the stun function it announces an attack, so leave the affected area in time to avoid the stun.

The most important tactical counter is to neutralize Miks' team support: if you take out the enemy stimmed by Harmonize first, the advantage fizzles. Against his ultimate it helps to leave the affected area once you hear it announced, as it follows a sound path. And because Miks as a controller often plays a bit further back to place his smokes, a fast flank push puts them in trouble before their utility takes effect.

Miks on attack and defense

On attack Miks is the architect of the execute. His precise Waveform smokes block the dangerous sightlines of a site, while his Harmonize gives the entry team a stim and tempo advantage and his M-pulse stuns the defenders or heals the team. This combination of sight control and support makes attacks plannable and gives the team a noticeable advantage in the duel. His ultimate is a powerful site opener.

On defense Miks uses his smokes to delay attacks and take sight from the enemies in a choke. His M-pulse stops rushes through a stun or keeps defenders in the fight through healing. On the retake his support is especially valuable: a team stim and targeted smokes give the team the perfect basis to reclaim a site in coordination. Miks' strength lies in the combination of control and team support.

Miks for beginners: the first steps

Miks is beginner-friendly because his smokes are placed precisely via a tactical map – you see exactly where your smoke lands. To start, learn the two or three decisive sightlines you should smoke on your favorite map when attacking and defending. That alone gives your team consistent value.

The most important beginner tip: deliberately use the versatility of your M-pulse – switch between stun (offensive, before an entry) and heal (defensive, after a duel) depending on the situation. And don't forget your Harmonize, especially before a site take: the stim and tempo boost for you and an ally can decide duels. Miks rewards players who think ahead and involve their team – a good agent for learning the controller role with a support focus.

Miks in the meta and in esports

Miks is one of the newest controllers and is currently finding his place in the meta. His strength lies in the rare combination of precise sight control and active team support – healing, stim and stun in one kit. Because he's relatively new, players and teams are still developing the best setups for his utility – which is exactly what makes him an exciting agent worth experimenting with, especially for teams that value team support highly.

For you on the ladder, Miks is an excellent pick if you want to combine the sight control of a controller with active support for your team. His versatility delivers reliable value even in solo queue. How strong he is in the current meta compared to other controllers is shown by our tier list and the pick rates, which we update continuously.

Common mistakes with Miks – and how to avoid them

The most common mistake is poor smoke timing: a Waveform smoke set too early dissipates before the team enters. Place your smokes in the rhythm of the team execute. The second mistake is the unused versatility of the M-pulse – whoever uses only one function wastes half the potential. Deliberately switch between stun and heal depending on the situation.

A third mistake concerns Harmonize: many forget the team stim or use it aimlessly. Use it deliberately before a duel or site take for yourself and an ally to create a noticeable advantage. And don't forget that as a support controller you're most valuable near your team, not as an aggressive solo peeker. Whoever times Miks' smokes precisely and fully uses their support utility turns them into one of the most valuable new controllers in the game.
