Who is Vyse in VALORANT?

Vyse is the metal-manipulating genius of the roster – a cold, calculating strategist who unleashes liquid metal to isolate, pin down and disarm her opponents. Whoever opposes her learns to fear the battlefield itself.

Vyse is one of the newer agents and introduced a particularly devious Sentinel identity. Her kit revolves around control and utility denial: a nest of liquid metal turns into razor-sharp vines that slow and hurt enemies, hidden wall traps cut off attackers' paths, a camouflaged Arc Rose flashes, and her Ultimate disables the weapons of entire enemy groups. That makes her a Sentinel who takes the tools away from the enemy.

Vyse's role: the utility-denial Sentinel

In VALORANT there are four roles: Duelist, Initiator, Controller and Sentinel. Vyse is a Sentinel – the role whose task is defense and security. Sentinels lock down flanks, hold areas and give the team backup. Vyse is a particularly offensive, mean type of Sentinel.

Vyse's special contribution is disarming. Where Cypher and Killjoy mainly watch, Vyse actively takes away her opponents' options: her indestructible walls cut off paths, her thorns slow and hurt, and her Ultimate disables the primary weapons of entire enemy groups. That makes her a nightmare for dependent executes – whoever stands there without a weapon or on the wrong path loses the duel before the first shot.

As Vyse you carry the responsibility to control access points and take the tools away from enemies. Your utility is powerful, but it wants to be placed cleverly: a wall at the wrong time or a visible trap is wasted. Razorvine C – the thorn trap

Razorvine is Vyse's delaying tool. You equip a nest of liquid metal and throw it; on landing it becomes invisible. When you activate it, it spreads into a large nest of razor-sharp vines that slow and hurt enemies moving through it. Use the nest to secure an access point, slow down a push or protect the Spike in a post-plant situation – a slowed, bleeding enemy is an easy target.

Shear Q – the wall trap

Shear is Vyse's surprise wall. You equip filaments of liquid metal and place hidden wall traps. When enemies pass by, an indestructible wall shoots up out of the ground behind them, lasting briefly and then fading. With it you cut off attackers' retreat, split an advancing group or isolate a single enemy – and set yourself up for a safe duel.

Arc Rose E – the flash trap

Arc Rose is Vyse's signature ability. You place a camouflaged Arc Rose on a surface – in the alternate fire mode you deploy it differently. When you reactivate the ability, it blinds all players looking in its direction. Because it is hidden, you can use it as a prepared flash trap: when an enemy approaches, you blind them at the decisive moment. You can pick the rose back up and redeploy it to secure flexibly.

Steel Garden X – the weapon-denial Ultimate

Steel Garden is Vyse's Ultimate and one of the meanest effects in the game: you equip a thicket of thorns made of liquid metal and thrust metal thorns out of yourself. After a short charge time, the primary weapons of all enemies in the area are jammed – so they briefly cannot shoot with their main weapon. Use it to disarm an entire site: while the enemies struggle with their blocked weapons, your team cleans up. An enormous advantage on defense and retake.

Vyse is demanding when it comes to placement, but immensely rewarding. These tips take you from "I put a trap somewhere" to "I disarm the entire enemy team".

For beginners: hiding traps

The core of Vyse is her hidden traps. Throw the Razorvine and the Arc Rose in hard-to-see spots so enemies don't find them right away. Place your Shear wall traps on access points to cut off attackers' paths. Important: activate your utility at the right moment – the vines when an enemy is standing in them, the flash when they approach.

For advanced players: chaining utility

Vyse's true strength lies in combination. Cut off an enemy with the Shear wall, slow them with the vines and blind them with the Arc Rose – so they are isolated, slow and blind, a safe kill. Vyse is one of the best agents for holding a bomb site – not just through surveillance, but through active disruption. Her walls, vines and flashes delay every push, and her Ultimate takes the weapons away from attackers at the decisive moment.
