Who is Waylay in VALORANT?

Waylay is the prismatically radiant light-being of the roster – a Duelist from Thailand who transforms into pure light, darts across the battlefield, and cuts her targets down with shards of light before whisking herself to safety in an instant.

Waylay is one of the newest agents and brings a highly mobile, aggressive Duelist identity. Her kit revolves around pace and repositioning: a double light-dash carries her onto a site or up high in seconds, a beacon pulls her back out of any danger while invulnerable, a light grenade heavily slows enemies, and her Ultimate creates an afterimage of light that dazes an entire zone. Waylay's Role: the mobile entry Duelist

VALORANT has four roles: Duelist, Initiator, Controller and Sentinel. Waylay is a Duelist – the role of the self-sufficient fraggers who enter the fight first and open rounds with kills. Duelists create space by clearing angles and taking enemies down.

Waylay's special contribution is her extreme mobility. Where Jett works with a dash and Neon with a sprint, Waylay combines both: her double light-dash covers long distances and heights, and her Refract teleport pulls her back out of any danger while invulnerable. Saturate C – the slow grenade

Saturate is Waylay's control tool. You equip a light grenade and throw it; on impact with the ground it detonates and heavily slows nearby players – both their movement and their weapon handling. A slowed enemy can barely dodge or shoot cleanly. Use the grenade to clear an angle before your peek, to stall a push, or to secure the Spike in a post-plant situation.

Lightspeed Q – the double dash

Lightspeed is Waylay's movement ability. You equip it and dash forward twice as pure light – in the alternate fire mode only once. Important: only the first dash can carry you upward, the second keeps you on one level. With it you cover long distances in a flash, reach elevated positions, or clear several angles in seconds. A perfect entry tool for aggressive players.

Refract E – the invulnerability teleport

Refract is Waylay's signature ability and her safety net. You instantly create a beacon on the ground; reactivate the ability and you return as particles of pure light to your beacon – and on that journey you are invulnerable. This lets you peek aggressively or force a duel and pull back risk-free the next moment. Refract recharges one charge every two kills, so it rewards aggressive play.

Convergent Paths X – the light Ultimate

Convergent Paths is Waylay's Ultimate. You focus your prismatic power and create an afterimage of yourself that emits beams of light. After a short delay you receive an effective speed boost, and the beam expands and dazes all players in the area. Use the Ultimate to tear apart an entire site: while the enemies are dazed, you yourself are faster and can win several duels in a row.

Playing Waylay right: tips for every level

Waylay is movement-heavy and demanding on timing. These tips take you from "I dash somewhere" to "I fly across the site and grab the first kill".

For beginners: learning the dash and teleport

The core of Waylay is her movement. Practice Lightspeed in the practice range: remember that only the first dash carries you upward. Before an aggressive peek, place your Refract beacon so you can retreat while invulnerable if the duel goes wrong. And use Saturate to slow enemies down before the duel.

For advanced players: aggression & refresh

Waylay's true strength lies in chaining aggression and refresh. Because Refract recharges every two kills, you can play entry after entry aggressively: peek, kill, teleport back, reposition. Waylay Crosshair & Settings

As a highly mobile entry Duelist, Waylay often has to win her duels while in full motion. A clear, calm crosshair helps you hit immediately and cleanly after a dash – precisely because you rarely stand still.

You don't need a special sensitivity for Waylay: your mouse sensitivity should allow clean shots and quick turns. Most players sit at an eDPI (DPI × sensitivity) in the 200–400 range.
